Sachem East

Meagan Doherty, girls hoops: She scored 18 points, including 9 in the fourth quarter, to lead her team in a big non-conference victory over Long Island Lutheran.

Billy Merone, wrestling: Last weekend he earned career win No. 100 on the wrestling mat. .

Sachem North

Colin Eberhardt, boys track: The combination of his third place finish and a class rank in the top 10 percent of Sachem North's graduating class allowed Eberhardt to earn Academic All-County at the Suffolk County championship meet.

Sachem North girls winter track: Many girls achieve personal best times this past weekend at the county championships. They are all athletes of the week: Junior Kelly Lavan had a career-best as she placed fourth in the 1500 m. run in 4:53.50. Sophomore Katie Michta had a career-best as she placed second in the 1500 m. racewalk in 7:11.00 against Long Island’s top-ranked Kelly Maranchuck of Sachem East. Andrea Hegarty ran a career-best 9.93 in her hurdles race tonight, beating her previous season-best by .3 seconds. Sophomore Natalie DeQuarto raced more than 30 seconds faster than her previous best as she became Sachem’s No. 18 all-time racewalker.
