Sachem Residents Sound Off on Snow Plowing

How have the roads in your neighborhood fared during the blizzard? Find out what your neighbors said on Facebook.

Winter Storm Jonas brought over a foot on snow to most of Long Island with a half dozen towns gaining totals of over 2 feet.

The blizzard led to travel bans on both the Long Island Expressway and the Northern State Parkway, while LIRR service was suspended until Monday morning.

While the bans are currently lifted, the LIRR is still facing sizable delays and numerous Long Island school districts announced closures as the island works to dig itself out of this weekend’s blizzard.

We asked Patch readers how they felt about the plowing done on their block. Here’s what you said:

  • “Nooooo! I live in a circle with three houses. They can’t get it right, ever!”
  • “I think given the length and strength of this storm they did a fantastic job with the roads. Not everyone will be happy but everyone needs to realize they are doing the best they can.”
  • “Happy for the plowing. But not happy that they always push all of the snow onto one side of the street......mine!”
  • “For the first time in 22 years, yes. Can’t believe it.”
  • “No, it’s been plowed number of times but there is a thick layer of snow left. It could be better.”
  • “Only the corners are a mess, but other than that, yes.”
