Sachem School Board News & Notes
A brief recap of Wednesday's Sachem Central School District Board of Education meeting.

Last month New York State Gov. Andrew Cuomo set a deadline for Thursday between state officials and the state teachers union on a statewide teacher evaluation system.
As of Wednesday night, according to multiple media outlets, the two sides have not come to an agreement. Cuomo has not issued any recent statements about the situation.
During his state address earlier this year, Cuomo said that any school district which does not implement a new evaluation system by January 2013 could forgo school aid for the school year.

The evaluation system was a main discussion during Sachem’s Board of Education meeting Wednesday night held in the administrative annex at Samoset Middle School.
Sachem Superintendent James Nolan, while not always seeing eye-to-eye with Cuomo and his decisions, will wait to make judgment on the plan until any official announcements are made.
