Sachem Sports Club is a local nonprofit youth sports league in the Sachem Community, offering programs in Tackle football, Competitive Cheerleading and Boys and Girls Lacrosse. This Holiday season, our Cheer and football families participated in the "Adopt a child for the Holiday Season " program. This program started about 5 years ago, with just a small idea of helping children in the sachem community have a brighter holiday season, with random school adoptions, to a full blown concentrated effort. 3 years ago, the program under the direction of Colleen Barbera helped us move this project from various locations, to where it was needed most. We went from 9 children, 3 years ago, to 21 children last year (when football joined in) to 22 children this year!. None of this would be possible without the generosity of our cheer and football families and from the coordination of our coaches and team moms. That our league is able to do this in the off season is a testimate to how much we can to do to help the Sachem community even when were not together. We have made our league a family that works together to accomplish great things, yes, we develop athletes, but we do so much more than that too. Sachem Sports Club is honored to have so many devoted families that help us make a child's holiday much brighter. We are blessed to be surrounded by such caring people, and I look forward to what we can do next year.—(pictured left to right Phyllis Hill Vice-President, Terence Dee -President, and coordinator Colleen Barbera.
