Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued For Long Island
BREAKING: 70 mph winds, quarter-sized hail and a couple tornadoes are all possible, the National Weather Service says.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 10 p.m. Monday for Long Island, the National Weather Service says.
The main threat will be damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph, but isolated quarter-sized hail as well as weak/brief tornadoes are also possible.
Flash flooding is possible, especially where multiple storms move over the same area. A flash flood watch is in effect until 8 a.m. Tuesday for Nassau County.

Monday afternoon: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly between 4pm and 5pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 5pm. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 83. Southeast wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Monday night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could be severe and produce heavy rainfall. Patchy fog after 8pm. Low around 69. West wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.
Tuesday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 3pm, then a chance of showers. Some of the storms could be severe. Steady temperature around 71. North wind 9 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
Tuesday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly before 9pm. Patchy fog. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 67. North wind 3 to 6 mph.
Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 81. North wind 3 to 7 mph.
Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 65.
Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 84.
Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 69.
