Small Tornado Hits Long Island
The storm caused damage to several local homes on Tuesday night.

RONKONKOMA, NY - A small tornado hit the Ronkonkoma area on Tuesday night, according to the National Weather Service.
The NWS confirmed the tornado touched down at around 11:20 p.m affecting Iroquois Street, Seneca Street and Ontario Street along Mohican Avenue.
Several homes sustained damage to siding, gutters and outdoor furniture. Trees were also cut down by the winds with two or three falling on cars.

The tornado was categorized as an EF0, with winds reaching between 65 and 85 MPH.

Personnel from the Town of Islip's Departments of Public Works, Public Safety and Fire Marshal's office responded to calls of downed trees.

"I am so very, very grateful that no one was hurt," Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter said after walking through the neighborhood and meeting with residents. "Material things can be replaced, but we cannot replace the life of a loved one."
Town crews will be on hand to collect any remaining branches and debris placed at the curb.
