Stolen ATM Dragged Down Lake Ronkonkoma Road
The ATM was taken from a nearby bank and dragged by a vehicle down a road, police say. It was mistaken for a transformer.
LAKE RONKONKOMA, NY — A stolen ATM was found in the middle of the road in Lake Ronkonkoma early Tuesday, Suffolk police said.
Someone reported a "transformer" in the road on Ronkonkoma Avenue at Hillcrest Street at around 5:45 a.m. Fourth Precinct officers found an ATM that had been stolen from outside Capital One Bank, located at 131 Portion Road in Ronkonkoma.
Investigators believe the ATM was dragged by a vehicle with a chain and became dislodged.

Anyone with information on the theft is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
