HOLBROOK, NY — The Sun-Vet Mall, named for its location at the intersection of Sunrise Highway and Veterans Memorial Highway in Holbrook, has been particularly hard-hit by the brick and mortar retail downturn of recent years.

The strip mall lost its anchors Toys 'R Us and Pathmark when the retailers went out of business and now smaller retailers in the shopping center are also shuttering. The property has been listed with Long Island-based Schuckman Realty since 2017 and language on sales brochure from 2018 made by the company says "redevelopment coming soon" but no details have been released.

Popular Greek and Italian restaurant Aegean Pizza is one business still open in the mostly-deserted mall. Holdouts A.C. Moore closed in November 2019 and an employee at women's clothing store Mandee told Patch that they will be closing March 3.
