SUV Driver Struck 2 Boys On Bikes, Fled Scene: Police
The two boys, ages 12 and 9, were seriously injured. A 31-year-old woman was arrested 10 hours after the crash, police said.

RONKONKOMA, NY — A 31-year-old woman was arrested 10 hours after she struck two boys on bicycles with her SUV on a Long Island Expressway service road then drove off, Suffolk police said.
According to police, three boys were riding bikes west on the shoulder of Express Drive North, between Old Nichols and Terry roads, when two of the boys were struck by the woman driving west at 7:34 p.m. Monday. The woman then fled the scene, police said.
Troy Russell, 9, of North Amityville, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition. Toriano Jamison, 12, of Ronkonkoma, was taken via ambulance to the same hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The third bicyclist, a 6-year-old Ronkonkoma boy, was not injured.

Police released a description of the SUV involved in the crash and the driver, Shannon Palmer, of Hauppauge, was arrested outside her home at 5:45 a.m. Tuesday, police said.
Detectives charged Palmer with two counts of leaving the scene of an incident with serious physical injury. She was being held at the Fourth Precinct and will arraigned Tuesday at First District Court in Central Islip.
