Tamarac Launches Pink Pumpkin Patch For Breast Cancer Awareness
Students at Tamarac Elementary School created a Pink pumpkin patch to raise awareness for breast cancer during October.

SACHEM, NY - From Sachem Central School District: There are a number of breast cancer awareness initiatives going on across Sachem this month.
At Tamarac Elementary, they put together a “Pink Pumpkin Patch."
For the past few years, Tamarac’s character education program has been based on everyday superheroes. They tie in acts of kindness, community service and volunteerism as part of the program.

This year the school sent out a flyer explaining that being a strong leader and an everyday superhero means that you need to support one another, especially in times of need.
Students and their families were asked to support breast cancer awareness by celebrating the Fall season and decorating a pink themed pumpkin, which was then displayed in the lobby for everyone to enjoy.

The project was overseen by Tamarac teachers Lori Capozzi and Gina Mordente.
