HOLTSVILLE, NY — This year's Christmas tradition at the Holtsville Ecology Site will look a little different this year because of the coronavirus pandemic. Instead of in-person visits with Santa, Santa will send personalized video messages to local kids and families, according to the Brookhaven Highway Department.

The videos cost $25 and the proceeds go toward caring for the rescue animals at the ecology center. To order a custom message, visit BrookhavenNY.gov/Holiday and Santa will send a personalized video message via email for up to five children. The videos will also show scenes of Santa visiting the center's animal residents.

“While we are very disappointed that we are unable to host our Holiday Light Spectacular this year, we came up with an alternative that would still allow children to experience that special visit with Santa Claus in a very personal way,” Superintendent Losquadro said.
