Wind Advisory Issued For Long Island

A wind advisory will be in effect for Long Island Monday.

"Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects," the National Weather Service said in the advisory, which will be in effect from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. "Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

Sustained northwest winds of 20-30 mph and gusts up to 45-50 mph are expected.

Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle, secure outdoor objects, the weather service said.

Sunday Night- A 40 percent chance of showers, mainly before 9pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 39. Breezy, with a northwest wind 10 to 20 mph.

Monday- A slight chance of rain and snow showers before 9am, then a slight chance of rain showers between 9am and noon. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 47. Windy, with a northwest wind 21 to 31 mph, with gusts as high as 47 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Monday Night- Mostly cloudy, with a low around 34. Wind chill values between 25 and 30. West wind 15 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph.

Tuesday- Partly sunny, with a high near 51. Northwest wind 11 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph.

Tuesday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 39. North wind 5 to 9 mph becoming light and variable after midnight.

Wednesday- Sunny, with a high near 56.

Wednesday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 48.

Thursday- Sunny, with a high near 63.

Thursday Night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 51.

Friday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 64.
