Kay: I started the company with my best friend, Kerri Watkins, five years ago as a part-time business. We thought of the idea while eating dumplings in Atlantic City. I took over full time in 2016. I have always loved food and seeing people enjoy the food that I make.

Patch: If you had to sum up your business mission to a stranger in five words, what would those words be?

Kay: Handmade, crispy, delicious, easy, fun.

Patch: What’s the biggest challenge or most difficult moment you’ve faced in your job?

Kay: Doing everything myself! I am the cook, the salesperson, delivery person, social media etc. (Which is why the kitchen hours are currently limited)

Patch: What’s the most satisfying part of your job?

Kay: Seeing people enjoy the wontons.

Patch: How would you say your business or organization distinguishes itself from the others?

Kay: All American Wontons is a local, handmade and woman-owned business offering many different flavors of easy to heat wontons.

Patch: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given when it comes to success?

Kay: Work smarter not harder, and timing is everything!

Patch: Are there any new projects or endeavors you’re working on that you’re extra excited about?

Kay: I started the Gourmet Food and Handmade Market last winter as a way to keep local vendors busy during the slow winter months. This is the second year and I am hoping for an even bigger turnout. There are different vendors each date focusing on packaged foods and handmade items, as well as other local businesses. There are three dates at Old Bethpage Village Restoration (Jan. 27, Feb. 24, Mar. 24) and four dates at Simplay in Hauppauge (Dec. 3, Jan. 14, Feb. 11, Mar. 11).

Patch: How can Patch readers learn more about your work and business?

Kay: You can visit our website, email, or follow us on Facebook and Instagram. Our products are available online and at events across the island.
