LONG ISLAND, NY — Three Long Island eateries garnered attention in a statewide top-15 listicle published by Only In Your State last month. The story, titled, "15 Of The Best Restaurants For Foodies In New York State," sees establishments from the island to upstate and the city make the cut.
"It’d be more than valid to say that New York is well-known for putting its own personal touch on many iconic dishes and has also been known to come up with a few of its own," the top-15 list, published by Lea Monroe, reads. "All throughout our state you can find a variety of places that will leave your mouth watering and your stomachs full! It feels impossible to narrow down our state-wide favorite restaurants, but in a grand effort we’ve put together a list of places that you must make an effort to go and dine at. Ready to get those stomachs rumbling? Here are 15 restaurants you have to visit in New York before you die."

Lobster Roll of Amagansett
Lobster Roll, at 1980 Montauk Highway, Amagansett, opened up the list at No. 1, though it's unclear if the story is a ranking.
"Established in 1965, this iconic restaurant is hands down the best place you can go for a lobster roll sandwich — outside of New England, of course," Monroe wrote. "The perfect place to stop if you're out visiting the Montauk Lighthouse, the Lobster Roll is sure to give you a memorable dining experience."

All-American Hamburger Drive-In of Massapequa
All-American Hamburger Drive-In, at 4286 Merrick Road, Massapequa, was the next Long Island eatery to make the list.
"Open and serving the community since 1963, this vintage-style burger joint will change the way you think about fast food," Monroe said. "Unarguably the best fast food spot in the area, the delectable burgers, fries and milkshakes all taste like heavenly nostalgia."
Maureen's Kitchen of Smithtown
Last but certainly not least, Maureen's Kitchen, at 108 Terry Road, Smithtown, rounded out the Only In Your State list. This brunch eatery also garnered hyperlocal attention on Long Island, as it was named best breakfast, brunch and pancakes in the 2021 Bethpage Best of Long Island awards. Not to mention, the eatery features a cow statue outside its digs.
"Ready to stop at the best place to grab breakfast?" Monroe wrote. "Widely known for its famous four-legged friend posted up outside, this popular spot is almost always guaranteed to have a crowd. Maureen's Kitchen is a great home-cooked way to start off your day!"
