BREAKING: The crashes have taken place between midnight and 4 p.m., police say.

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — Ninety-six car crashes have been reported in Suffolk County since midnight, Suffolk police said. The number was last updated at 4 p.m.
The crashes, taking place at a higher clip than usual, police said, happened during a raging snowstorm that continues to cover Long Island in a white blanket. None of the crashes were fatal, police said.
Up to 2 feet of snow is expected, and the island has been blistered by winds up to 60 mph, the National Weather Service says. Blizzard-like conditions are possible late Monday morning and Monday afternoon.
