Man Charged In Smithtown Park Stabbing: Police

A 60-year-old man was stabbed following an argument and fight on Wednesday afternoon, police say.

SMITHTOWN, NY — A man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing at Blydenburgh County Park in Smithtown on Wednesday, Suffolk police said.

Brian O’Connor, 62, of Middle Island, got into an argument and fight with another man at a camp ground at Blydenburgh County Park around 2:35 p.m., police said. O’Connor grabbed a knife from his vehicle and stabbed the man, who is 60, police said. The man suffered injuries that are not life-threatening and was brought to a local hospital, police said.

O'Connor was arrested and charged with second-degree assault. He is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Thursday.
