Smithtown Firefighter Killed In Motorcycle Crash
The firefighter was on his motorcycle in Smithtown when a 17-year-old car driver making a left turn crashed into him, police said.
SMITHTOWN, NY — A motorcyclist died following a collision with a driver Wednesday night in Smithtown, Suffolk police said.
James Shellock, 22, of Smithtown, was driving a 2007 Honda motorcycle north on Route 25A when a 17-year-old male from Nesconset driving a 2000 Nissan Pathfinder west on Carriage House Road turned left onto Route 25A and crashed into Shellock at 11:20 p.m., police said.
Shellock, a firefighter/paramedic with the Smithtown Fire Department, was brought to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Nissan driver was not injured. Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.

It marked the third straight day of a fatal motorcycle crash on Long Island.
