SMITHTOWN, NY — Route 25A in the Town of Smithtown will be subject to overnight lane closures starting on Monday, the New York State Department of Transportation announced. A resurfacing project is the reason for the closure, and it is expected to take a week.

Eastbound traffic on Route 25A, or East Main Street, in the Town of Smithtown, is expected to be closed between Church Street/Indian Head Road and Lawrence Road from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. During these hours over the next week, eastbound traffic will be detoured south onto Indian Head Road, east on Meadow Road, and north on Lawrence Road. Westbound traffic will remain open. Poor weather may cause delays in the work.

Drivers are urged to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones, according to NYSDOT. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of a driver's license.
