Smithtown Police Blotter: Car Parts Stolen From Smithtown Nissan

ALSO: A woman was scammed by someone posing as an Amazon employee, police say.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Dec. 5: Burglary (second-degree) was reported on Martingale Gate in Nissequogue from Dec. 2 at 11:15 p.m. Someone entered a home and stole a computer, backpack, wallet and a credit card, police said.
  • Dec. 3: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported on Middle Country Road in St. James from Nov. 27 at 7 p.m. Someone went through cars at Smithtown Nissan and stole several catalytic converters, four tires and a Nissan heat shield, police said.
  • Dec. 2: Criminal mischief (fourth-degree) was reported on Lake Avenue in St. James from Nov. 24 at 6 a.m. Someone damaged a lock at St. James Jewelry Shoppe, police said.
  • Dec. 2: Identity theft (second-degree) was reported on Gedney Avenue in Smithtown from Dec. 1 at noon. Someone used someone else's information to open an account and bought a cell phone, police said.
  • Nov. 30: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported on Middle Country Road in Nesconset from Nov. 12 at 12:01 a.m. Repairs were made to a Dodge Ram by Smith Haven Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram, and the vehicle owner did not pay the bill, police said. The vehicle was removed from the property without permission, and the dealership filed an incident report, police said.
  • Nov. 29: Grand larceny (fourth-degree) was reported on Fiore Court in St. James from Nov. 24 at 4 p.m. Someone called a woman pretending to be an Amazon security officer, police said. The caller convinced the woman to purchase four Best Buy gift cards and send the activation codes, police said. The thief stole the money from the gift cards, police said.
