Smithtown Police Blotter: Credit Cards Stolen From Unlocked Car

ALSO: A thief used someone else's identity for two online car rentals and entry to a children's museum, police say.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Feb. 25: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported on West Main Street in Smithtown at 11:03 a.m. Someone stole allergy medication from Stop & Shop at 291 W. Main St., Smithtown, police said.
  • Feb. 24: Identity theft (second-degree) was reported on Dorchester Road in Smithtown at 8:45 p.m. A resident reported that someone obtained their identity and used it for two online car rentals and entry to a children’s museum, police said.
  • Feb. 23: Grand larceny (fourth-degree) was reported on Curlin Lane in St. James from Feb. 22 at 9 a.m. Someone stole two credit cards in an unlocked 2008 Ford F150 parked outside a home, police said.
  • Feb. 23: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported on Westwood Lane in Smithtown from Feb. 22 at 3:20 p.m. A resident reported that someone made three unauthorized withdrawals from their savings account, police said.
