Smithtown Police Blotter: Tires & Rims Stolen From 2 Cars
ALSO: A man was told by a phone scammer that he needed to send $1,000 worth of Best Buy gift cards to pay for his Amazon Prime, police say.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.
- March 24: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported on Nesconset Highway in Nesconset from March 23 at 9 p.m. The tires and rims were stolen from two vehicles — a 2017 Honda and 2019 Cadillac — at King O’Rourke, police said.
- March 23: Identity theft (second-degree) was reported on Doyle Court in Lake Grove from Feb. 28 at 3 p.m. Someone signed up for unemployment benefits in someone else's name, police said.
- March 23: Identity theft (second-degree) was reported on Milleridge Lane in Smithtown from March 16 at noon. A phone scammer called a man and told him he needed to send Best Buy gift cards to pay for his Amazon Prime membership, police said. The gift cards were for $1,000 total, police said.
