Smithtown West Girls Soccer Team Reaches National Rankings

SMITHTOWN, NY — There's a lot to like right now about the Smithtown High School West girls soccer team. So much so, that the squad is receiving national attention.

After a 6-0-1 September, the team was ranked No. 24 nationwide in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll.

In the third poll of the season, dated Sept. 17, the team was ranked as high as No. 11 for its 3-0 start. Following a 0-0 tie at Commack, the team was bounced from the rankings. However, three straight wins against West Islip, Sachem North and Whitman saw Smithtown West roar back into the ranks, which they'll hope to keep climbing in October.
