Suffolk Nonprofit Asks For Help To Save 'Duck Norris'

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — Peace Love Rescue New York, a Suffolk County-based nonprofit organization, is seeking the public's help to raise money to save Duck Norris.

Duck Norris was found unable to walk, as he was suffering from months of neglect, Ashleigh Ciccone, founder of the nonprofit, wrote on GoFundMe. An exam found Duck Norris has a serious infection in his legs.

"We are praying it hasn’t spread too much, as he was left for months on end with no medical treatment from his previous owner," Ciccone wrote.

A sample was sent out for cytology to see what kind of antibiotics will best help the duck, and the organization needs to have a further workup done, including radiographs and a possible CT scan to check for broken bones.

The nonprofit is hoping to raise $2,000 by the Feb. 1 scheduled appointment, Ciccone said. That is the high end of the estimate and does not include bloodwork, his wheelchair and other tests that might need to be done. Duck Norris last week had an exam at Long Island Bird and Exotics Veterinary Clinic in Great Neck.

A GoFundMe page for Duck Norris was set up on Monday. As of Tuesday afternoon, $20 has been donated.

"One may ask why we would do all this for a duck?" Ciccone wrote. "To us, they all matter, and any animal we take in gets only the best medical care, and we make sure everything they need gets done in order to save their lives!! This is a huge bill we were not expecting, but we will not let our boy down and we are here to fight with him."

People are asked to consider making a tax-deductible donation towards Duck Norris's care, and no amount is too small, Ciccone said.

"We are as always so grateful for everyone’s support that allows us to save the lives we do," she said. "Please share his story and keep him in your prayers."

Peace Love Rescue New York is an organization dedicated to saving the lives of local animals in need.
