Suffolk Police Release DWI Numbers For 2018-19 Holiday Season

Find out how many people have been caught driving drunk between Thanksgiving and New Year's.

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY - Suffolk Police recently announced that over 200 people were arrested on DWI charges this holiday season.

Since Thanksgiving eve, the department increased enforcement with a focus on those who were driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Between Nov. 21 and Jan. 1 a total of 245 people were arrested for DWIs. Between New Year's Eve and the morning of New Year's Day alone, a total of 9 people were caught drunk driving.

In addition, the department partnered with New York State Police and the MTA for a sobriety checkpoint during which 8 people were arrested.
