Town of Smithtown to Celebrate Sesquarcentennial

350 Foundation creates relay to raise money for event.

The Smithtown 350 Foundation was established to fundraise and plan events for Smithtown’s 350th (Sesquarcentennial) birthday celebration.

The 350 Foundation has created a run through and around the Town. The Town has been divided into 36 (+) miles. Each mile has a sponsor who has pledged $250 to be used to fund Sesquarcentennial (350th Anniversary) events.

There are less than three weeks until the Bull Smythe Relay on March 1, 2015. Runners/walkers will begin the Bull Smythe relay at6am at Town Hall and recreate the legendary ride of founder Richard Smythe and his bull. Legend has it that Richard Smythe was promised all the land he traversed during a single day bull ride. During the relay, participants hailing from all over Smithtown will be handing off a reproduction of Smithtown’s original patent as a baton. The Bull Smyth Relay is expected to take over 9 hours to complete. The public is welcome to come out and support the runners and the Town.
