There are a pair of events this week, starting Wednesday. Here is how to register.

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — A pair of virtual employment events are scheduled for this week, as the Suffolk County One-Stop Employment Center is aiming to help residents in their job searches, according to Executive Steve Bellone.

Suffolk rearranged its job fairs, hiring events and career exploration events to be virtual in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

"While we have made significant progress in our battle against COVID-19, unemployment remains a critical issue for many of our residents," Bellone stated. "Whether you are searching for a new job, or are just looking to make a change, the One-Stop Employment Center has multiple resources available that you can access safely and easily from home."

To help residents and businesses in need during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Suffolk County Department of Labor Licensing, and Consumer affairs launched its Virtual Career & Talent Portal. The internet-based job board serves as a one-stop-shop for employers and jobseekers, bringing all the programs and services available in the bricks-and-mortar One-Stop Employment Center to the web. This job board is also available in Spanish.

Job seekers are able to access online offerings such as job listings, education and training opportunities, create a résumé, find tutorials, get career-building assistance, research in-demand occupations, be matched with employers and more. To date, more than 7,600 people have registered, as have roughly 300 employers.
