3 LI Communities In Top 10 For Best Public Schools In U.S.: Niche
The rankings were compiled based on state test scores, graduation rates, SAT/ACT scores, teacher quality, and student and parent reviews.
LONG ISLAND, NY — Three Long Island communities located on the north shore of Nassau County have scored in the top 10 of Niche’s 2021 Places with the Best Public Schools in America.
The community of Woodbury came in third, followed by Syosset, which took fifth place, and Jericho, which came in at 10. The communities of Long Grove and Lincolnshire, suburbs outside Chicago, IL, took first and second place, respectively.
The rankings were compiled based on state test scores, graduation rates, SAT/ACT scores, teacher quality, and student and parent reviews, according to Niche’s website.

Other communities along Nassau’s north shore were also ranked, scoring in the top 50 on the list. Brookville scored in the top 20, coming in at 18. In the top 30, Searingtown took spot 28, and Lake Success, 29. In the top 40, Herricks took spot 31, University Gardens, 32 , Manhasset Hills, 33, and Great Neck Plaza, 37.
In the top 50, Thomaston took spot 40, Kensington, 42, Great Neck Estates, 43, and North Hills, 48.
