SYOSSET, NY — Debris caught fire overnight on the Long Island Expressway, officials said. The Jericho and Syosset Volunteer Fire Departments responded around 10 p.m. Saturday to a report of a car fire on the eastbound lanes of the expressway near South Oyster Bay Road.

Firefighters arrived to find an extinguished debris fire under a car. Crews checked the car and determined flames did not spread to the vehicle.
