BROOKVILLE, NY – Long Island University Post in Brookville has transitioned to remote instruction for two weeks following a recent spate of positive coronavirus cases.

In an announcement posted to the university's coronavirus webpage, the school said it was pausing in-person instruction "out of an abundance of caution."

The veterinary graduate program will continue in person instruction, according to the announcement.

Teaching faculty will work remotely, but all other employees are expected to report to campus as per usual.

Last week, the university announced 14 students had tested positive for COVID-19 following gatherings among multiple sports teams.

Newsday reported, citing anonymous university sources, that the gatherings involved members of the university's football, baseball and women's soccer teams.

According to the New York state COVID-19 tracker, there have been 60 total positive cases on the LIU Post campus. There have been 172 campus-administered tests to date and three positive campus-administered tests to date.

Of the 90 rooms available for campus quarantine, 68 are currently in use. There are currently 206 students in quarantine and 68 students in isolation (45 off campus, 23 on campus).
