LI Expressway, Northern State Parkway Crashes Close Lanes
About an hour after a crash closed two lanes on the Long Island Expressway, a second wreck closed lanes on the Northern State Parkway.
JERICHO, NY — Traffic snarled on two major Long Island highways Saturday night after two separate crashes.
An overturned vehicle closed two lanes on the Long Island Expressway around 6:50 p.m. near Jericho, according to the state Department of Transportation.
The eastbound middle and right lanes were closed at exit 40W for state Route 906A, Nassau County police said. Traffic cameras showed heavy traffic building up.

About an hour later, a crash on the westbound lanes of the nearby Northern State Parkway also forced lanes to close near Carle Place. The right and center lanes were closed around 7:45 p.m. on the parkway, the state transportation department said. The crash happened between Exit 31 for Glen Cove Road and Exit 29A for the Long Island Expressway.
