Motorcyclist Crashes On Northern State Parkway, Flown To Hospital

Police and firefighters rushed to the parkway, which was closed for 30 minutes.

WOODBURY, NY — Police and firefighters were called to a motorcycle crash Sunday afternoon that backed up traffic for miles on the Northern State Parkway.

The Syosset and Jericho Volunteer Fire Departments was called to the crash near the Seaford-Oyster Bay expressway around 3:30 p.m. Sunday, along with Nassau County and state police, officials told Patch.

A helicopter landed on the parkway to airlift the injured motorcyclist to Nassau University Medical Center. The Parkway was closed for about 30 minutes while crews worked the wreck. Traffic was snarled for miles.

The condition of the motorcyclist wasn't immediately known.
