Over 200 Financial Pros Gather in in Woodbury for 20th Symposium
Financial Planning Association of LI recently hosted its 20th Annual Symposium & Exhibition, drawing over 200 financial professionionals.
Woodbury, NY; December 6, 2019 – The Financial Planning Association of Long Island (FPA of LI) recently held its 20th Annual Symposium & Exhibition at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, NY. The daylong event attracted finance professionals from across Long Island and the tri-state area with dynamic speakers, thought-provoking seminars and a wealth of opportunities for attendees to network and share ideas.
“As the Financial Planning Association of Long Island’s Board President, it is my pleasure to welcome everyone to what has become the region’s premier day of learning for financial planners, investment managers, accountants, insurance agents and others,” said Mark A. Badami, CFP, CTLC, during his opening remarks. “It is essential that our industry continue to set aside and invest time to learn about new products, services and technologies as well as develop lasting relationships with colleagues.”
The event was capped by an energetic lunch presentation by Keynote Speaker Steve Luckenbach, a recognized financial services industry professional. Mr. Luckenbach holds a FINRA Series 7 and 63 registrations. He is also author of the book, Don’t Believe Everything You Think based on his experiences working with and motivating advisors. During his presentation, he challenged those in attendance to understand the importance of the Why? in their lives and careers.

The Annual Symposium & Exhibition’s Platinum sponsor, Jackson National, was joined by Gold sponsors American Portfolios, Financial Services, Inc., Hilton Capital Management / LI Collaborative Divorce Professionals, the Nassau Suffolk Chapter of National Conference of CPA Practitioners (NCCPAP), and Nationwide. Guests in attendance were also able to browse sponsors’ displays in the Exhibit Hall where they spoke with representatives one-on-one and gained insights on key issues impacting their practices as well as their clients. Throughout the day, seminars tackled topics that ranged from tax caps and the fixed income investor to IRA mistakes and understanding Medicare, offering qualifying attendees up to eight CE credits. A highlight of the event was a celebration of FPA of LI’s 20th Anniversary Symposium and recognition of all individuals who had been members of the organization for 10 years or longer.

The Long Island chapter of FPA was established to help elevate and educate practitioners in the financial services industry.
