Sedan Smashes Into Pole In Woodbury; 1 Hurt

Syosset volunteer firefighters were called to the wreck and one person had to be hospitalized, officials say.

WOODBURY, NY — One person was injured in a single-car crash in Woodbury in which a car smashed into a utility pole.

A white sedan hit a pole on Syosset-Woodbury Road around 6:45 p.m. Monday, officials said. The Syosset Volunteer Fire Department was sent to the crash.

One person was hurt and had to be taken to a hospital. The road was closed in both direction while utility workers repaired the damaged pole.

The crash caused a power surge that led to a generator at a nearby nursing home catching fire.
