Semi-Trailer Catches Fire On Long Island Expressway: PHOTOS
Syosset firefighters got to work Sunday night after a truck caught fire on the Long Island Expressway.

SYOSSET, NY — A tractor-trailer caught fire Thursday night on the Long Island Expressway, briefly closing two westbound lanes. The Syosset Volunteer Fire Department was alerted of a truck fire near South Oyster Bay Road around 9:30 p.m.
Firefighters found a semi-trailer's rear brakes ablaze and the driver had detached the trailer. The fire was quickly extinguished by Syosset firefighters before it could spread into the trailer.
A state sander was notified for water freezing on the roadway. No one was hurt.
