POSTPONED: Sen. Gaughran Holds Town Hall On IRR

The town hall's focus will be on Long Island Rail Road improvements, namely the Oyster Bay line. It was postponed over Coronavirus concerns.

Due to concerns over the new Coronavirus, the town hall has been postponed. Below is a statement from Sen. Gaughran:

In light of the situation related to the Coronavirus, this week's LIRR Town Hall is being postponed out of an abundance of caution. I urge everyone to follow Department of Health guidance. The town hall will be rescheduled as soon as is appropriate.

SYOSSET, NY — Sen. Jim Gaughran is holding a town hall on Monday as a part of his regular series, according to a press release. This town hall's sole focus will be the Long Island Rail Road.

The town hall, hosted in partnership with the Oyster Bay Main Street Association, will look at periods of poor service on the Oyster Bay line.

Long Island Rail Road officials, as well as the Long Island Rail Road Commuter Council and local officials are invited to attend.

Gaughran, who represents the North Shore of Nassau and Suffolk counties, has called for the LIRR to add additional trains and service to and from New York City during peak hours, the release says, and electrification of the Oyster Bay line.
