SYOSSET, NY — Syosset runners set yourselves a reminder: A fun run is planned next month that benefits kids who are sick, have special needs or are medically fragile. The 5K Trail Run and 1 Mile Kid Race is scheduled Sept. 7 at Stillwell Park, Oyster Bay officials announced Wednesday.
Residents are invited to participate in the event, which supports the YOLO Strong Foundation. Donations allow the organization to help families, such as by funding pre-school tuition for kids undergoing chemotherapy, medical devices and by providing financial assistance for children with life-threatening diseases. The group also gives iPads with special software to underprivileged and non-communicative children with autism, Coucilwoman Michele Johnson said in a news release.
"We are so pleased to be able to assist this wonderful organization with these efforts," she siad.
