Nassau Group Facility Staffer Accused Of Abuse
Police say the staffer hit a woman and mistreated her during meals while forcing her to eat befouled food.

SYOSSET, NY — A Brooklyn woman has been arrested after police said she repeatedly hit a woman at a Syosset group facility and forced her to eat befouled food.
Wanda Shorts, 56, of Sterling Place, worked as a staff member at the group facility. Shorts hit a 34-year-old woman on her back several times and mistreated her during meals, police said.
The incident happened around 5:30 pm on April 6.

Shorts was arrested without incident around 11:30 p.m. Friday. She faces charges of endangering the welfare of an incompetent person or physically disabled person.
Shorts was expected to appear in Mineola court Saturday.
