Syosset High School Ranked 18th Best High School In State

Niche.com ranked the best public high schools in New York.

In a recently released report, Niche.com named Syosset High School as the 18th best public high school in New York.

The website evaluated schools based on key statistics, as well as parent and student reviews. Syosset received an overall grade of an ”A+” from Niche.

The school received an “A+” in academics, administration and policies, educational outcomes, extracurriculars and teachers. The school scored an “A” in food, health and safety and resources and facilities, and a “B+” in sports and fitness. The school’s lowest score, a ’B-” was in student culture and diversity.

“There are so many extracurricular opportunities available and almost everyone is involved in them,” one student wrote.

The website used a detailed set of methods to rank 14,431 public high schools across the country and collected 4.6 million opinions from 280,000 students and parents.

According to Niche.com, a high overall ranking includes the following criteria:

  • Students are very happy with their experience in all aspects including academics, teachers, health, safety, resources, facilities, extracurriculars, sports, and fitness;
  • District schools are exceptional academic institutions in terms of teachers, students, resources for learning, and student outcomes;
  • District schools are made up of a diverse population and fosters an accepting, positive school culture;
  • Students are actively involved in a variety of extracurriculars and sports the district offers.
