Syosset HS Seniors Tapped For U.S. Presidential Scholar Program

SYOSSET, NY — Three Syosset High School seniors have been named 2021 U.S. Presidential Scholar candidates for their exceptional performances on the SAT and ACT exams, according to a news release from the Syosset School District.

Seniors Anoushka Dalvi, Lara Weinberg and Kevin Zhao are among over 4,500 students who will have the opportunity to apply to become U.S. Presidential Scholars, which is one of the nation’s highest honors for high school students, district officials said. As part of the application, which is by invitation only, candidates are selected based upon their academic, artistic and technical accomplishments, district officials said.

The U.S. Presidential Scholar Program, which was established in 1964, recognizes excellence in education and honors some of the nation’s most distinguished graduating high school seniors. About 600 semi-Finalists will be announced in April. Up to 161 U.S. Presidential Scholars will be selected and announced in May.
