Syosset’s 8.4 Inches Of Snow Largest Snowfall In Nassau County

Syosset had the second largest snowfall on Long Island.

SYOSSET, NY — The hamlet of Syosset accumulated 8.4 inches of snow during Sunday’s snow storm, making it the largest snowfall in Nassau County and the second largest snowfall on Long Island, according to unofficial measurements by the National Weather Service.

Syosset took second place to the nearby hamlet of Melville where 9 inches accumulated. Smithtown came in third with 8.1 inches of snow. New Hyde Park accumulated 8 inches of snow in the storm.

The north shore of Nassau County bore the brunt of the storm, as far as snow accumulation is concerned, according the National Weather Service’s stats. Glen Cove accumulated 7.3 inches and Hicksville 7.2 inches. Other areas with higher accumulation included Plainview, which had 6 inches, and Seaford where there was 5.8 inches of snow accumulation.
