Syosset-Woodbury Community Pool Opens With Restrictions
The Syosset-Woodbury Community Park was one of two in the Town of Oyster Bay to reopen.

WOODBURY, NY — Woodbury's community pool is open for business. That's right — Town of Oyster Bay residents and their guests looking to escape the sweltering summer heat just got some reprieve.
Joseph Saladino, the town's supervisor, and Jeff Pravato, the town's tax receiver, celebrated the official start to summer in the town by opening two community park pools this weekend in Woodbury and Sea Cliff, the first to open on Long Island.
While Syosset-Woodbury and Tappen pools are open, officials said Monday that community pools in Plainview-Old Bethpage, Massapequa and Bethpage are all scheduled to open Saturday.

"Our Town pools and beaches are a staycation destination for residents of all ages and that especially holds true this year, as many of us have had to readjust summer plans," Saladino said in a news release. "We recognize that our local pools have become a backyard oasis for many young families and seniors, that’s why we’ve made many enhancements to them over the past few years."
The town took public health and safety steps amid the coronavirus pandemic by implementing new protocols.

Only town residents are allowed entry to the pools. Out-of-towners can gain entry when accompanied by a resident.
Social distancing remains in effect throughout the pool facilities, except when people are with their own household or family unit. Masks should not be worn in the water.
Complimentary sunscreen stations will be available.
"We all understand how important it is for families to have a fun and enjoyable summer – but we recognize that safety is equally important, especially in these unprecedented times," Pravato said in a statement. "That’s why you’ll see many safety initiatives in place at our facilities to protect the health of you and your family. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t have fun!"
