SYOSSET, NY — A truck that was hauling grass on the Long Island Expressway caught fire early Sunday and was destroyed.

The Syosset Volunteer Fire Department and a dual response engine company from the Jericho Volunteer Fire Department were called around 6:30 a.m. Sunday to the eastbound lanes of the expressway, near South Oyster Bay Road, officials said. Firefighters found a truck engulfed in flames on the shoulder of the expressway.

Engine 585 arrived first and quickly poured water over the flames. No one was hurt.
