Nassau Head-On Crash Traps Driver: 4 Seriously Hurt, 1 Critical
Police and officials say at least one person was hospitalized in critical condition following a head-on crash.

WOODBURY, NY — Four people suffered serious injuries, with at least one critically hurt, in a two-car crash Friday evening in Woodbury.
Around 7:45 p.m. Friday, a 2019 Lexus SUV collided head-on with a 2017 Toyota minivan on Woodbury Road near Piquets Lane, police said. A 77-year-old man was driving the SUV and a 27-year-old woman was driving the minivan. Two women, ages 56 and 65, were passengers in the minivan, police said.
As a result of the collision, the 77-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to Nassau University Medical Center. The minivan occupants suffered multiple trauma injuries and were also hospitalized for treatment.

Both vehicles were removed from the scene for further safety examination.
The Syosset Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the crash to remove one person who was trapped in a vehicle. Firefighters and police emergency service officers worked together using hydraulic tools to free the trapped driver.

Woodbury Road was closed in both directions while police investigated.
The Plainview and Melville Fire Departments were also called to the scene for additional ambulances.
