Acclaimed Chinese Pipa Musician Performs at The Jazz Loft

Min Xiao-Fen, acclaimed Chinese pipa soloist,vocalist and composer will perform with her trio, Blue Pipa at The Jazz Loft 3/15/19 at 7 PM. While rooted in Far Eastern traditions including those of her native China, Min has sought something beyond classical Chinese music. In her program from Harlem to Shanghai and Back, she recasts the work of legendary jazz trumpeter Buck Clayton, Chinese composer Li Jinhai. Count Basie and Duke Ellington. Guitarist Steve Salerno and bassist Dean Johnson accompany Min. Tickets are available at www.thejazzloft.org and at the door.
