EAST SETAUKET, NY — Arrowhead Elementary School students teamed up for a good cause, according to the Three Village Central School District.

Kindergarteners in Jennifer Giambalvo's class worked with the building's student council to organize a fundraiser for research into Juvenile Diabetes. Together, they raised $512.

The students created an event "T-shirts for type 1," which called for students and staff to wear their favorite T-shirts on two consecutive Tuesdays during diabetes awareness month and donate a dollar to the cause. The kindergarten students created and colored hearts for each $1 donated in an effort to symbolize the cause. The student council then helped the class hang the hearts and spread the word.
