Dog Killed In Selden Hit-And-Run: Police

The dog's owner tried to stop the driver, but the woman in the car drove off, police say.

SELDEN, NY — Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is seeking the public's help in finding the woman who police said left the scene of a car crash that killed a dog in Selden.

A woman was walking her emotional support dog, Romeo, on Pine Street when a dark-colored SUV struck the Toy Poodle, killing it, at 11:17 p.m. April 23, police said. The dog's owner reached into the driver's SUV and tried to stop her, but the woman drove away, police said.

Police described the driver as white with blonde shoulder-length hair and in her 30s.

A cash reward is offered for information that leads to an arrest.
