Long Island Weather: Flash Flood Watch Canceled, But Stormy Weekend Ahead

Heavy rain is lashing Long Island Friday morning, but flooding concerns are dissipating.
A flash flood watch that was issued for the region until 6 p.m. has been canceled. A flood advisory does remain in effect until 11 a.m. for all of Long Island, except for northwestern Nassau. Any flooding is expected to be minor, according to the National Weather Service.
Partly sunny skies will develop from west to east from mid-morning into early Friday afternoon.

The weekend will bring more chances for rain and thunderstorms, though. Saturday will start off dry, but scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible in the afternoon and evening. Sunday brings more of the same with a 40 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms throughout the day. The threat of rain will continue into the work week.
