Historical Photo Shows Se-Port Deli Building From 1930

We asked you to guess where this photo was taken. Did you get it right?

On Monday we asked you to guess where this historical photo was taken. LivingSmall was the first to guess exactly right in the comments that the photo showed the building at Route 25A and Shore Rd.

"Se-Port Deli and the home design store currently occupy the space," LivingSmall wrote.

Many others both on Facebook and on the website also got it right (or were very close.)

The Three Village Historical Society provided Patch with this image and a description of which businesses occupied the building back in 1930 when the photo was taken.

"The first photo is a 1930 photograph, Mather’s Drug Shop and Lyons Brothers Contracting Company on the corner of Shore Road and 25A," wrote the Historical Society in an email accompanying the picture. "The Se-Port Deli now occupies the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company building constructed around 1930."

Check back in two weeks to guess where another historical photo from the Three Village area was taken.

Among the goals of the
Three Village Historical Society in its mission is to nurture the public appreciation for the area's historical heritage and develop educational resources that provide access to the Society's store of knowledge.

Two upcoming events sponsored by the Society further their goals. On May 10 at the Port Jefferson Village Center will be the Crawford Barn Exploratory Fundraiser, an information session on the Spociety's plans for the Crawford Barn.
