LI Billboards Raise Awareness of Mandatory HPV & Flu Vaccines

A group of Long Island activists for parental choice came together to raise funds to put up two billboards on Long Island on Monday.

You can find the Nassau County billboard in Garden City, NY on Quintin Roosevelt Blvd, north of Commercial Ave, facing south. (Right by Nassau Coliseum)

The Suffolk billboard, as pictured, can be found off exit 63 of the LIE in Medford.

The goal of the billboards is to make the public aware of bills that are up for vote in January that would make the HPV & Flu vaccinations a requirement to attend school and could leave children in charge of the decision to inoculate themselves by the age of 9.

Many parents in this activist group knew nothing about the upcoming mandates until stumbling upon social media posts that left them wondering and questioning what was going on. Now, these same parents are on a mission to educate others so they are not left in the dark about these bills that could take away their rights as parents to vaccinate their children and leave it up to the consent of a 9 year old.

Since the pull of religious exemption in 2018, over 25,000 healthy children can no longer attend school. Mandating these next bills would only add to that and create hardship amongst students and parents all across NY.

Here are just some of the bills of concern:

S3899/A973- Provides treatment for sexually transmitted diseases to minors without a parent's or guardian's consent.

S298B/A2912A- Provides for the immunization of all children born after January 1, 2009 against the human papillomavirus (HPV).

A99- Relates to the removal of cases, contacts and carriers of communicable diseases who are potentially dangerous to the public health.

S4244B/A6564B- Permits any child who is at least 14 years of age to have administered to himself or herself certain immunizations required or recommended by law.

S2776/A2316- an act to amend the public health law, in relation to mandatory influenza vaccine for persons attending daycare until age 18.
