Long Island Severe Weather Threat: The Latest
The Father's Day forecast isn't looking that bad, but potentially severe storms loom at the start of the workweek.

A hazardous weather outlook remains in effect for Long Island with potentially severe thunderstorms impacting the region Monday, the National Weather says.
Before we get back to work, Father's Day won't feature much sun, but there's only a 20 percent chance of rain Sunday.
Monday evening into early Tuesday morning is the period forecasters are keeping a close eye on. Rain and thunderstorms are likely during that time frame.

Severe thunderstorms and flash flooding will be possible, with the greatest chance for severe storms in Nassau County and northwestern Suffolk County.

Sunday- A 20 percent chance of showers before noon. Areas of fog before 9am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 77. South wind 11 to 16 mph.
Sunday Night- A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 9pm. Patchy fog after 2am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. South wind around 17 mph.
Monday- A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 9am, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Patchy fog before 9am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 79. Breezy, with a south wind 17 to 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Monday Night- Showers and thunderstorms likely before midnight, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after midnight. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Cloudy, with a low around 68. South wind 15 to 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
Tuesday- A 40 percent chance of showers before 3pm. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 77.
Tuesday Night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 65.
Wednesday- A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 78.
Wednesday Night- A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 63.
Thursday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 78.
